One of the most successful websites where users can upload share and comment videos. It started in February 2005 as a noble idea of sharing thoughts and projects among people of similar beliefs (musicians, artists, and professionals). Today is almost totally mixed up. Together with the artists, musicians, educators who use this channel doing something useful and creative, we find thousands of “inappropriate” materials.
Millions of users everyday upload videos that “shouldn’t be allowed to get published” some people have said. Adult fights, violence, hooliganism, drug use, racist videos are on the rise. How many times have you found yourself surfing and ending up in a nasty show which only a mentally ill person can get fun with? Personally I believe that the worst thing is the comments underneath the videos. I have seen youtube account holders who don’t even have a video uploaded in their list, and instead they use it only for writing comments. What’s going on? Are those who moan so much right?
Indeed, there is a strong debate about youtube:

I think youtube is great
Restricting somebody’s ideas is absolutely unacceptable. What democracy is… tolerance in general. In a democratic society you have to tolerate not only ideas who are similar with yours but those who are completely opposite also, even if you find them cruel, unstandable etc. It is good for a society to include all the expressions, no matter how correct or incorrect they sound. When you fight for democracy, you fight not only to liberate yourself but also to let the people who harm democracy to be able to promote their ideas no matter if they sound demeaning to you.
For example: A comment of someone who thinks a singer of a video is bad should be accepted. You have arguments, you can “correct” the opinions who sound inappropriate to you, or event rate them with thumps down. Discussion means disagreement , fair enough! Otherwise there is an option to disable the comments or delete those you don’t like.
The problem is those people who upload nasty videos as you said promote violence. Would they do that if anonymity was not established? Not because they are afraid of the law but would they not feel ashamed in the eyes of the people? But I still think it is the society’s fault and not youtube’s. Smart people do not pay attention to dumpers. I personally strongly disagree with all the commenters below and I vote against them. If your arguments are good enough, you have nothing to be afraid of.
P.C: I don’t really think the other social networks like Myspace, Facebook are better. I have seen trash users, trolls etc there as well. At least in youtube you can find tones of useful stuff.

I absolutely agree. Youtube is out of control. The worst is not only the videos but he comments below. I don’t think the big number of users is a good excuse. Myspace has the same or more but it’s very strict. They have to do something, especially to protect minors.
