Wichael R. Willow and Angel Live, (an acoustic duet called : Peter and the Wolf) performing the song: Wicked little town (cover version). The original song is in the soundtrack, Hedwig and the Angry Inch written by Stephen Trusk, sung by John Cameron Mitchel.
This is a very early sample from the the acoustic duet Peter and the Wolf (Wichael R. Willow:guitars and Vocals, Angel Live:Back Vocals). The song is taken from the cover collection album “Taking it Down” (2003) which was mainly dedicated to David Bowie, Hedwig and the angry inch and a few other singers/songwriters who are the reason we exist in music today. David Bowie’s narration in Peter and the Wolf (by Sergei Prokovief) inspired Michael and Angel to choose the duet’s name.It was a project (2002-2005) just for fun and a few gigs, not for profit or promotion (the name is copyrighted by Prokovief). This song was recorded at Maze studios in Thessaloniki in 2002). A few live appearances took place between 2003-2004 but none is saved.
You will notice that Angel’s voice is characteristic for being high-pitched, mainly head voice falsetto, although his speaking voice is bass. Also a rough English accent is visible (because they were living in Greece) and a slightly distorted voice, abused by the continuous live appearances.
Angel Live (2003) states “It is a fact that songs have the power to influence, and classic melodies disregarding their style or genre, influence all of us. From singers to writers and from musicians to audience. All these songs have a meaning to us, they are sort of stations on a journey, and they posses a substance very special and unique. Our attempt here was to choose songs with feeling and passion and meaning and deep essence. And we treated them with utter respect, with the attitude of simply relaxed people having a good time singing melodies they like themselves. Some songs thought have more meaning than other, some for example created, from the first moment they were heard, the desire to interpret them. These songs were the beginning of this project. We would like to thank all the original performers for moving us so deeply by offering these great tunes to the audience. We are truly honored to try ourselves with this material“

“For all those who are afraid, who feel lonely or unhappy, certainly the best healing is to go out, to go somewhere where they will be totally alone, alone with the sky, with nature and with God. Because then and only then does one feel that everything is the way it is supposed to be, and that God likes to see people happy in the plain but beautiful nature” (Anna Frank).

Such a wonderful song. I’m a big Hedwig fan and worked for a while opening the door for Hedwig’s entrance into the theater for the Australian show.
