The_Venus_Project_by_SmokesQuantityA few months ago we found out about the Venus Project which indeed is something unique. I am sure a lot of people have been informed about it, some maybe not. The Venus project is an organization with main goals the change of the social and political establishment to a new, higher life-system which is based on the most important human ideal, freedom and social development based on the positive endeavours of technology.

The Venus Project (V.P.) first identifies the root of the problem: money is used to control the behavior and life of those with limited purchasing power. The Earth is being plundered for profit. The humans could have access to everything thanks to the technology and if that could be used in a positive way, there can be massive changes to the whole human society. Using technology, for example, people can travel easily and quickly thanks to magnet trains that can be constructed. How about traveling in 3 hours from London to Beijing with a speed of 3.000 km/ h? No fuel, no gas, more eco-friendly houses while using technology we could have almost everything without spending massive working hours doing something that does not make us happy. For example, no one would have to work in the factories, the machines would do almost everything while work could be a free choice and not a demand for survival. For further information watch the 2 hour video further down.

Apart from those beautiful ideas (which for some would sound utopic) why do we support the Venus Project so proudly? Except that it rejects ideas like fascism and nationalism, something we definitely approve of, what would happen in music if technology and all goods were available to everyone? What would the benefits be for musicians? First of all, as there would be no or little need for survival work, people would engage in music urged by the love for it and not for profit. Given the fact that we will all have everything we need, there would be more creativity as the people would make music of their own choice and not cheap, fast-food music because the label executives or the audience wants it. The unworthy singers/musicians could find something else to do, leaving the place clear for those who really love music to be professionals.

Using technology, music could be more easily produced. People could use home studios instead of spending thousands of money in big, over-priced studios. Here it is important for me to point out that I am not against the professional studios, neither do I support only the home studios. They all play the same game working-surviving and not working-developing ourselves. Technology could be a potent tool for more music creation as the artist would be able to record, edit songs without time restrictions. In previous posts I have outlined the positives and negatives of the home recording studio, but under the Venus Project, the high quality of technology could come to the hands of the people.

The Venus Project could eliminate the record labels and the artist could be free to promote his/her work independently. The internet would be an excellent medium for music promotion in the form of exchanging ideas, something like a forum where everyone can have access to the arts.

Education: this is the key for almost everything. The Venus Project supports a very good education system which could improve the musicality of the children and of the literacy level worldwide. A good music education is essential not only for those who want to be musicians but generally for the whole community as it can improve the taste in music and create a more lively and well aware society.

Under the Venus Project, there would be no discrimination against artists, bigotry and stereotypes that plague the modern societies would be eliminated, therefore the role of the artist would be greatly improved. In fact, the concept work-development versus work-survive would provide equality of the different sciences and arts and all the different kinds of people, things crucial for a high-standard society.

The Venus Project Movie

Indeed there are plenty of people who have been annoyed by the VP concept. It is not very comfortable for the fake elites, for those who maintain the establishment and keep the education level of the society in very low standards. It is not comfortable for those who make millions by promoting fake artists.

It might sound contradicting that we support the V.P. while we talk about spirituality. The answer is that we reject every kind of organized religion and we adopt the real spirit that lies behind the religious masks. The V.P. sounds like an atheistic concept but that doesn’t stop us from giving it our full support, as it is mainly a social project. Religion is a personal belief and has nothing to do with how we can make the world better. There are loads of opinions that we need to respect but regarding the religious fanatics, the nationalists, the conservatives, no, these should not be respected at all.

Imagine a world as it is described and organized in that video. How benefited would you be as a musician or even as a doctor, civil engineer…

Let’s hope that humans will stop complaining about their lives and decide to act. Let’s spread the Venus Project everywhere.

Yes the project is still running. They became more popular especially now when the recession bites and people have the chance to see from first hand what the monitory system has caused.

I first saw this project about a year ago. Great idea, great concept. Lets see if big business allows it to move forward. I noticed a few months ago that the land that was being used for the building of the concept city was being sold so I wonder if the project is still running.
