A few months ago we posted an article complaining about youtube due to the massive number of inappropriate users. In summary, there are thousands of users who upload videos that contain violence, drug abuse, racism but the worst is always the comments below the videos. Unfortunately the situation has not improved despite the complaints of people who became aware of the situation. What we see today, a few months after the first post is that the problem has expanded in more social networks like myspace, facebook etc?
In fact the quality of the whole internet society has declined dramatically the last few months and it does not have to do only with the success of Facebook. Other social networks like Hi5, Bebo, Yahoo answers are flooded with “trolls”, unimportant users and of course extremists. Facebook has started as an idea for the alumnies of some universities or to connect friends from the past. However, the human stupidity together with the neglect of the administrators has turned it into another place where the mass torpidity grows very well. Quizzes, stupid applications and games that are useless and counter-creative. On the other hand, myspace was created for music and other art promotions but it seems like the company cannot handle the competition and has changed a lot in order to become more like Facebook. (applications, quizzes, online chat). Young individuals that invent multiple masks, users that cover themselves under a profile of other individuals pretending to be them, groups of people with dangerous ideas are often targeting decent users in order to track them down and threaten their lives or even harm them.
Why do the people use so much Facebook and other similar networks? Isolation: Perhaps this is one of the major problems, depression, isolation and impersonalization has attracted millions of individuals to the online networks.
I am not against the ?online friendship? but the problem is the quality. When the net is overcrowded with mindless users it looses its good side. I would advice all the artists and people who want to deal seriously with the internet not to invest too much in building just a profile in myspace. If you could avoid facebook it would be even better while other networks like Hi5, Bebo have nothing to offer except stupefaction. You could easily set up a blog page (preferably wordpress) or you can self-host it which is not very expensive. Of course you can enjoy online chatting but most of the time the online chatting is useful only between two people who already know each other.
Using your own website you can be sure that there is no employer to spy you, you can track down trolls who disturb you, you have the upper hand in a fully customizable site. This does not mean there are no junk websites but there are far more options and choices. Why do decent users want to join Bebo or Facebook while there are fantastic networks like The Zeitgest Movement, the TVXS (which is offered only in Greek language), many great blogs with official researches like Another Nickel In the Machine!

My opinion is that all those social network sucks.Why can’t you use instant messanger to communicate?Besides, you can easily get a virus just by clicking on a link in your inbox on all those soccial network.
