I recently came across several online petitions asking from Youtube to stop deleting copyrighted material such like music videos, movies, and other shows. It is well knows that youtube follows a very strict policy regarding copyrights. At 2006 BBC has reported that “Its policy is to take down copyrighted material when it is alerted by the owners, but it has been criticised for not being vigilant enough. It has also developed technology that will allow it to block copyrighted videos” (Day accessed 27/2/2010). Indeed Youtube removes thousands of videos per day displaying a message “This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim” after the deletion.
I would like to outline some of the reasons I disagree with that policy as I believe it is nonsense and it does not help anybody. Continue reading »
“Βρωμοέλληνες”, συνήθιζαν να αποκαλούν τους Έλληνες μετανάστες στις Η.Π.Α μια από τις περισσότερο αντιπαθείς ομάδες μεταναστών για τους Αμερικάνούς πολίτες. Το παραπάνω playlist περιέχει ολόκληρο το ντοκιμαντέρ του Ρεπορτάζ Χωρίς Σύνορα “Βρωμοέλληνες” που εξιστορεί τις περιπέτειες, τις κακουχίες και τα παθήματα των Ελλήνων μεταναστών στην “Γη της Επαγγελίας”.
Όπως βλέπουμε το video γυρίστηκε με αφορμή την απόφαση ενός δημοτικού συμβούλου του χωριού “Παλαιό Κεραμίδι” να περιορίσει την κυκλοφορία Αλβανών μεταναστών μετά την Δύση του Ηλίου στους δρόμους του χωριού. Στόχος, ο έλεγχος της εγκληματικότητας που όπως παρουσιάζουν τα ΜΜΕ οι μετανάστες φέρουν μεγαλύτερη ευθύνη για την έξαρση της. Συνέχεια στο υπόλοιπο »
Είναι γνωστό ότι οι “άνθρωποι” συντηρητικών ιδεολογιών “σκληροπυρηνικών Jesus Freaks” εδώ και αιώνες προσπαθούν να εμποδίσουν οποιαδήποτε γνώμη διαφέρει απο τις δικές τους και τάσσεται ενάντια στις μεσαιωνικές τους προκαταλήψεις. Σε μεγάλο βαθμό, φαινόμενα όπως η ομοφυλοφιλία, η μετανάστευση, οι προγαμιαίες σχέσεις έχουν δαιμονοποιηθεί από τη χριστιανική εκκλησία, όπως επίσης και η ροκ μουσική στην οποία έχουν κηρύξει πόλεμο εδώ και χρόνια ως γέννημα του Σατανά. If you ever thought of visiting Athens, I am sure you have been advised to avoid the area called “Exarcheia”. I have no doubt that your tourist office has informed you to stay away from this district and all the surrounding areas as they have been unfairly connected with high crime, prostitution, drug dealing and of course with the Greek riots of 2008.
I believe whatever has been said about Exarcheia is just bad rumors given by the unpopular Greek establishment and BBC’s widespread far right propaganda. First of all, I have found a documentary (in the above playlist) which confirms that Exarcheia is nothing more than a great place to live,full of artists, punks, an ideal place for a “cult lifestyle”. Just like every big city has its own place where people that attracts people with alternative beliefs (Camden Town in London, Kreuzeberg in Berlin), same in Athens. Continue reading »
