Poll: A debate about the mainstream music today.

There is a lot of talk in this blog about the decline of music quality today. We have outlined several factors such like globalization and the mass media production, the technology booming, the way music is promoted, the record labels etc…
We accept that the majority of popular music today is not as meaningful comparing to the music of the 80s, 70s etc and it seems that a lot of people will agree with this statement, however there will still be a percentage of those who may have a different opinion.
We have added this poll in order to get a flavor of what people think about this issue.

Artists and Society (poll results).
Posted by: bsm in 2009, Artist and the society, BlogIn this blog we have discussed several times the role of the artist in the community. Stereotypes and discrimination are very common problems that the artist have to face. For that reason I have created polls where people place their opinions. In this post we discuss the results of those polls together with other polls and surveys I found on the net.
(I would like also to point out that the quality if the pictures below is not very good, so I would suggest you to click to each specific picture in order to view it better)
Starting with the official Wichael R. Willow polls from polldaddy.com:
The results of the survey “Does the society consider the artists as outcasts?” show that the 35% of the voters believe that there is discrimination against artists but in general the society is full of stereotypes and people are labeled by their skin color, nationality, sexual orientation (including being artists) and together with the 29% who straight forward believes that there is an unfair discrimination, we have a 64% who would say yes. A small percentage says no, while the 29% supports that only the famous artists are appreciated while the non famous are considered as outcasts.
Regarding music piracy, 50% wants music to be free-legal for download, 14% should be allowed to download temporarily as a preview, together with a similar opinion of the 21% who support that the users should pay a monthly fee in order to download music as a preview and the 14% said illegal downloading should not be allowed at all.
The 57% want the musicians to be able to work more independently (believing this could be better for them), the 14% said the things will be worse for the musicians in the future and the 29% supports no groundbreaking changes will happen.
