Sasha Baron Cohen, a comedian, an actor, a journalist… and ultimately the creator of the very successful movies “Borat” and “Bruno“. A man who does not put limits to his satire ending up to be considered sometimes “provocative” and ‘highly offensive” (especially for his first movie, Borat). Borat is a supposed man from Kazakhstan, a journalist living in a village under Third World conditions and because of that, the government of his country sends him to the US to obtain cultural lessons and help Kazakhstan to improve. When finally Borat arrives in the US, he confronts an unexpected cultural shock and he feels the vast differences between the developed west and his country.
Some people start their music career without proper knowledge of music. Thus we have famous singers who don’t know how to sing, guitar players who don’t know how to play the guitar or sometimes use an out of tune guitar.
There are a lot of examples and I promise to avoid naming names. I don’t want to offend the fans of the band Kings of Leon who have copied the “Silent All These Years” by Tori Amos in their song “The Bucket”… what an inspiration. I would not say anything about Snow Patrol who are the U2 of the future and they took up music lessons after they started their career because they wanted to improve their technical, composition and performance skills. I will not say anything about all the new brit pop, cockney accent bands who sound like Oasis, Pulp and the Beatles, who I don’t personally like because I believe that Tina Turner and Michael Jackson did better than them.
