136710032bliWe decided to write this article after visiting the British music museum in London and reading some reviews about it. Below it is outlined why we consider important the existence of this museum. We also give some clear answers regarding the famous artists but this time from a different point of view.

A few details about it:

The British Music Experience, opened for the public on the 9th of March 2009, as part of The O2 (formerly the Millennium Dome). It is a 2100 sq meter permanent exhibition that contains the essence of British pop and rock since 1945, presented in an interactive way, using audio?visual technology and activities for the visitors along with traditionally displayed exhibits like costumes and instruments of famous artists.

Charlie Chaplin was one of the most important artists of the cinema. An artist who whatever was pretending to be in his movies made it action in his life; he denounced the conservative establishment and fought against the stereotypes.

The Great Dictator” is probably his most important work, not just because it is a good movie but because of its powerful meaning. Every progressive person would agree with that.

In the movie Charlie has a dual role. He is both a dictator, an Adolf Hitler replica, and a Jew barber who confronts the discrimination and violence of the fascist regime. Towards the end of the movie the original dictator falls into a river, gets dirty and is led into a concentration camp, while the barber, secretly dressed like a soldier in order to escape from the camp, is mistaken for the dictator.

The_Venus_Project_by_SmokesQuantityA few months ago we found out about the Venus Project which indeed is something unique. I am sure a lot of people have been informed about it, some maybe not. The Venus project is an organization with main goals the change of the social and political establishment to a new, higher life-system which is based on the most important human ideal, freedom and social development based on the positive endeavours of technology.

The Venus Project (V.P.) first identifies the root of the problem: money is used to control the behavior and life of those with limited purchasing power. The Earth is being plundered for profit. The humans could have access to everything thanks to the technology and if that could be used in a positive way, there can be massive changes to the whole human society. Using technology, for example, people can travel easily and quickly thanks to magnet trains that can be constructed. How about traveling in 3 hours from London to Beijing with a speed of 3.000 km/ h? No fuel, no gas, more eco-friendly houses while using technology we could have almost everything without spending massive working hours doing something that does not make us happy. For example, no one would have to work in the factories, the machines would do almost everything while work could be a free choice and not a demand for survival. For further information watch the 2 hour video further down.

In this blog we have discussed several times the role of the artist in the community. Stereotypes and discrimination are very common problems that the artist have to face. For that reason I have created polls where people place their opinions. In this post we discuss the results of those polls together with other polls and surveys I found on the net.

(I would like also to point out that the quality if the pictures below is not very good, so I would suggest you to click to each specific picture in order to view it better)

Starting with the official Wichael R. Willow polls from polldaddy.com:

michaelstatsThe results of the survey “Does the society consider the artists as outcasts?” show that the 35% of the voters believe that there is discrimination against artists but in general the society is full of stereotypes and people are labeled by their skin color, nationality, sexual orientation (including being artists) and together with the 29% who straight forward believes that there is an unfair discrimination, we have a 64% who would say yes. A small percentage says no, while the 29% supports that only the famous artists are appreciated while the non famous are considered as outcasts.

Regarding music piracy, 50% wants music to be free-legal for download, 14% should be allowed to download temporarily as a preview, together with a similar opinion of the 21% who support that the users should pay a monthly fee in order to download music as a preview and the 14% said illegal downloading should not be allowed at all.

The 57% want the musicians to be able to work more independently (believing this could be better for them), the 14% said the things will be worse for the musicians in the future and the 29% supports no groundbreaking changes will happen.
